My partners and I just got back from two days at a cabin in the mountains of Idaho. We do this every January to reflect on and capture the lessons we learned over the last 12 months and outline things we’d like to accomplish in the coming year that will make us even better partners for the entrepreneurs who choose to work with us.
More than anything though, I look forward to this (and our summer retreat as well) because I get to spend a few uninterrupted days with Glenn, Phil & George. We’ve become close friends over the years and I believe the deep-rooted feelings and respect we have for one other is one of the things that largely differentiate us from many other venture firms (a perspective colleagues have quietly shared with us).
It was a terrific couple of days. For any business partners, I think there’s tremendous value in getting away from the office (and all the distractions that come along with it) and spending real time together.
My pal Brad Feld once said that “The most important thing for anyone on this planet is to spend their time working on things that THEY think give them meaning”. I’m incredibly fortunate that I’ve been doing just that for the last decade at Highway 12 Ventures. For me, it’s amplified because I get to do it with people that I respect and care deeply for.
Great picture…too. You should frame that one.
Amazing what you can do with an iPhone and a few apps these days…
You guys make a great team. Working with you guys for the short period of time I did is and always will be one of my professional highlights.
You set the bar high here pal. Nobody has emerged to be the "next" Tac Anderson…
